People.com to Launch Celebrity Database

Published on January 31, 2007 | Email this article

Time Inc.‘s People.com will launch a celebrity database as part of an ongoing plan to revamp websites this year.

The database will include updated celebrity profiles and original editorial content, according to Mediaweek. Time Inc. chairman and CEO Ann Moore says that People Inc. will be “our next big business online.”

Meanwhile, Real Simple‘s website will also be developed. Moore says that the websites must focus on building interaction with online visitors and developing unique content. With that in mind, Time.com’s newly revamped site includes blogs that encourage reader response, and Life is in talks with Google and Yahoo for ways to monetize its photo archives.
