LA Radio Station Gets R&B Re-Brand

Los Angeles-based radio personality Cliff Winston will replace Tom Joyner’s syndicated morning show on Radio One’s Los Angeles station.

The station, formerly KKBT-FM “The Beat,” will be re-branded KRBV-FM “V100, the Best Variety of R&B,” writes Radio Ink. Winston will act as the new V100 morning drive host. Other on-air talent will include Shirley Hayes, Michael Baisden, John Monds and Myke Julius.

Radio One’s CEO/president Alfred C. Liggins III called LA a “challenging market for us for several years,” and says the changes in the line-up will enhance the performance of the Los Angeles station. “We are optimistic that 2007 can be a new day for Radio One in the great city of LA,” he said.

Radio One is the nation’s seventh largest radio broadcasting company (based on 2005 net broadcast revenue) and the largest radio broadcasting company that primarily targets African-American and urban listeners.
