FX’s Courteney Cox Series Airs to Solid Ratings, Dismal Reviews

Published on January 03, 2007 | Email this article

FX’s original series Dirt premiered Wednesday night to decent ratings, averaging 3.4 million total viewers and 2.1 million in the 18-49 demo during the 10 p.m. hour, according to live-plus-same-day data from Nielsen.

An encore of the show at 11:00 p.m. averaged 2.6 million total viewers, writes Broadcasting & Cable. The audience for the premiere was smaller than that for premieres of other FX originals The Shield (in March 2002) and Rescue Me (July 2004), but bigger than Nip/Tuck’s in July 2003.

The San Francisco Chronicle says Dirt misses its mark, calling it “one of the few instances where FX doesn’t go far enough” (not something you’ll hear often about the network that brought us Nip/Tuck).
Dirt stars Courteney Cox as the editor of a celebrity glossy.
