Outdoor Jumps 13% in October

Out-of-home advertising spending jumped 13.1 percent in October, putting it up 9.1 percent year-to-date, Mediaweek reports.

Digital video recorders, mobile devices, satellite radio and various online media have had a favorable impact on outdoor advertising as brands recognize the guaranteed audience for outdoor messages, according to the Outdoor Advertising Association of America. Revenue from the digital segment has also helped outdoor’s growth rate.

The industry is expected to end the year up between 8 and 9 percent to close to $7 billion. Similar growth is expected in 2007.
