Panini ‘Blissful,’ Expands Teen Offering

Published on December 06, 2006 | Email this article

Emap‘s teen title Bliss, which saw circulation plummet 23 percent year on year for the first half of 2006, has been acquired by Panini U.K. The takeover will take place in Jan. 2007.

Panini, known for its sticker albums of characters such as Scooby Doo and Spider Man, increased its teen market titles by the purchase of Mizz from IPC Media in March, writes Brand Republic.

The company invested heavily on the online and print editions of Mizz, and will do the same for Bliss.

Through April of 2006, the teen market was growing in terms of ad revenue, but the circulation side was weakening, which some experts thought might mean a softening of the category. Strong teen titles such as Teen People and Elle Girl have shuttered in recent months, along with British title Sneak.
