Dispute Resolution Necessary for USPS, NALC

Published on December 05, 2006 | Email this article

A dispute resolution process between the U.S.P.S. and the AFL-CIO’s National Association of Letter Carriers will begin, as the two groups were not able to reach a negotiated agreement.

While the U.S.P.S. said that it regrets not being able to reach an agreement with the NALC - one of its four largest unions - it is continuing contract discussions with the other three, writes DM News. Those include the American Post Workers Union, AFL-CIO National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association and National Postal Mail Handlers Union.

The groups continued discussions past the Nov. 30 deadline, but were unable to come to a final agreement.
