Lifetime Drops Two Series, Greenlights ‘Army Wives’

The two series that Lifetime debuted during the summer - both to solid starts - have been cancelled.

Angela’s Eyes and Lovespring International were two of the first new series to debut under the network’s new entertainment team led by Susanne Daniels and, while each posted decent averages, were not up to Lifetime’s standards for renewal, writes Broadcasting & Cable.

Daniels unveiled a new programming slate in the upfront in March, and is in the process of rolling out new shows for 2007. One such show, Army Wives, has been greenlighted for 13 new episodes.

Another show, a reality series called Gay, Straight, or Taken, will debut in January.

During March’s upfront, Daniels announced a goal of programming “to our loyal audience [women 18-49], but also bring in new and younger viewers as well.”
