‘Potty-Paluza’ Hits Times Square in Time for Holidays

Published on November 17, 2006 | Email this article

From the Monday prior to Thanksgiving until Dec. 31, P&G and its Charmin brand of toilet paper will operate a public restroom in the heart of Times Square.

The 20-stall restroom will reside between 45th and 46th streets, and will be complete with plenty of Charmin Ultra and attendants whose purpose is to keep the restroom clean, writes The New York Times.

Street team members dressed as toilets will help point out the restroom to the 15.3 million tourists who will visit New York over the holidays (as predicted by the New York Travel Advisory Bureau).

Electronic billboards at local airports will announce it, and Charmin will display the location on its website.

The restroom will include a seating area complete with a giant stuffed Charmin bear, ready for a photo op. The billboard over the door will read: You are in New York. Go in style. Charmin Restroom.
The Potty-Paluza (as Charmin calls it) is second only to television advertising in this year’s promotional costs for the brand.
