‘3 Lbs.’ Called ‘Ripoff’ by Critics

CBS’s new doctor drama will air tonight, and according to pre-show buzz it will not bear comparisons to hits such as Grey’s Anatomy or House.

The show, 3 Lbs., will fill in for cancelled drama Smith on Tuesdays at 10 p.m., and critics are unimpressed, writes Media Life. Entertainment Weekly called the show a House wannabe, while USA Today named it a rip-off.
The series has been kicking around for awhile, according to the article. It was originally created for the 2005-06 season but wasn’t picked up, and was then recast and retooled as a mid-season replacement for this year. When Ray Liotta’s Smith surprisingly tanked after just three episodes, 3 Lbs. was made to fill in.
