Baquet Says Replacement May Have Easier Time

Published on November 10, 2006 | Email this article

Departing Los Angeles Times editor Dean Baquet says that his replacement, James O’Shea, will have an easier time dealing with corporate oversight than he himself did.

Baquet, who is leaving the paper after vocally refusing job cuts by parent Tribune Company, points out that O’Shea, coming as he does from the Chicago Tribune, already has a closer relationship with the headquarters in Chicago, writes Editor & Publisher. O’Shea has also worked with new publisher David Hiller for a few years.
