TV Guide is slashing its guaranteed circulation by about two-thirds and relaunching as a large format magazine with fewer TV listings and more lifestyle and entertainment articles, the Associated Press reports (via Yahoo News). The magazine currently guarantees 9 million readers to advertisers, but the new guarantee will be set at just 3.2 million.

The changes will begin with the Oct. 17 issue, which will contain just 25 percent listings and 75 percent stories, the opposite of what it has now.

But the magazine still needs to compete with on-screen guides provided by their cable companies or online. And with more celebrity news and entertainment, it will also compete with magazines like US Weekly, People and Star.
