Al Gore’s Current TV went live Monday to some 20 million U.S. households, Mediaweek reports. It’s carried nationwide on DirecTV and can be found in Time Warner Cable’s New York and Los Angeles systems, as well as Comcast’s L.A. footprint.

Viewers in the much-desired 18-34 contribute self-generated content that’s meant to give Current a hipster TV news magazine vibe. Thus far, about 25 percent of Current’s programming has been submitted by the audience. Advertisers sign up for 15-month periods, during which they sponsor a particular content block within each hour’s telecast.
