Sharper Image Direct Marketing Sales Down 35 Percent

August catalog sales/direct marketing sales (including wholesale) for Sharper Image were down by 35 percent, from $11.1 million last August to $7.2 million, Internet Retailer reports. Total catalog sales/direct marketing sales year-to-date were $74.2 million compared to last year’s $95.2 million, a 22 percent drop. Web sales made up 14.7 percent of all the company’s sales in August, compared to 14.3 percent last year. Sharper Image has opened 10 new stores this year and plans to open another eight to 10 this year. Currently, it operates 183 stores.
