U.S. News & World Report has announced a major strategic shift, moving away from print newsgathering to build its web business, Folio reports. The magazine will consolidate its print and online sales and marketing staffs into one. Growing numbers of readers are becoming more comfortable getting their news online, and “there’s no point as a news magazine to try to compete with that,” said U.S. News president Bill Holiber.

He adds, “Rather than to try and chase everything down every week, we’re going to be more selective.” There are no plans at this time reduce frequency and in fact the magazine will be adding two additional issues this year.
