Chrysler Agency Cuts 200 Jobs

Published on February 22, 2006 | Email this article

Chrysler Group is the latest Detroit automaker to streamline operations in order to cut costs, stripping roughly 200 jobs from lead advertising agency BBDO Worldwide’s Troy office, reports the Detroit News. The Troy office handles ad and media accounts for Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge.

BBDO is just another agency caught in Detroit’s push to reduce expenses, and the cost-cutting will not stop anytime soon, according to Jim Sanfilippo of AMCI Corp., an auto industry consulting firm in Detroit.

WPP Group moved five ad agencies to Dearborn in order to be closer to the headquarters of client Ford Motor Company last month, and General Motors Corp. changed its media buying agency last year to save costs.
