‘Elle Girl’ Folds Unexpectedly

Published on April 05, 2006 | Email this article

Staffers at Hachette’s Elle Girl were notified yesterday that the magazine’s June/July issue would be its last, according to a reliable source, writes Fishbowl.

The fold comes as a shock following 2005’s success among ad pages and revenue - taking in more than $33 million in advertising revenue on 750 ad pages, increasing over 2004 by 77 percent and 46 percent, respectively. Also, the magazine’s 2006 numbers were outpacing 2005’s figures through February.

The website ellegirl.com will continue to exist, with a redesign and updated editorial content, the New York Times writes.
