‘NY Times,’ ‘WaPo,’ Gulf Coast Newspapers Top Pulitzer Prize Winners

The Washington Post and The New York Times were the top winners of this year’s Pulitzer Prizes for journalism, which were announced yesterday at Columbia University, writes Editor & Publisher. The Post earned four prizes and the Times picked up three.

There were two winners in the prestigious Public Service category - awarded to both the Sun Herald in Mississippi and the Times-Picayune in New Orleans. The papers were recognized for their continued dedication to covering the effects of Hurricane Katrina. The Times-Picayune also won for Breaking News for its Katrina coverage, writes Yahoo.
