Advertisers Use Kite Boarders to Reach Audience

Published on July 11, 2006 | Email this article

Advertisers have recently been trying out a new venue in advertising this summer at the beaches: using kite board sails to reach their audience, Media Life reported.

Kite Billboard, whose corporate headquarters are in Largo, Florida, has recently marketed their niche to advertisers from corporations and small businesses alike. Ads can be placed on the sails of kite boards which carry riders across the water. However, the ads are not only limited to the water. They can also be used with wheeled boards over land or with snowboards used on frozen surfaces.

Advantages of the Kite Board includes creativity with color, targeting audiences at events or beachside communities, and campaigns which focus on specific locations.

The ads can be purchased from Kite Billboards, and are available in most areas in the United States where there are waterfronts. They are also available throughout areas in Europe, Australia, South America, China and Africa. “We can go wherever there’s water,” Antonio Martinho, president of Kite Billboard was reported as saying. “Lakes as well as oceans, rivers and on snow.”

Martinho calls kite boarding “the most exciting and eye-catching sport in the water sports industry.” The sails are 50 feet long and as wide as six or seven feet, and can be made in 60 days. The kites cost $3,000 dollars each - however there is a 25 percent discount after the second kite. There is a 12-month guaranty of 300 hours of display time and two kites can also be rented at a cost of $10,000 dollars per year.
