Bank Orders 2 Million Branded Tissue Packs

Published on September 19, 2006 | Email this article

Commerce Bank has placed an order of two million customized tissue packs from AdPack to provide free to customers at branch banks and community events.

Commerce Bank initially ordered 250,000 tissue packs in April to test the concept.  Based on the response, the bank decided to order another two million packs.

“The AdPack tissue packs are a great way to extend our brand,” said Ronald Mendoza, vice president of merchandise, Commerce Bank.  “Tissue packs are a prime marketing vehicle because they not only carry our personality with our popular ‘Mr. C’ character printed on them, but there is a call to action to open up an account.” Mendoza was on hand in Tokyo to supervise the creation of the tissue packs.

Tissue-pack advertising was introduced by the Japanese in the 1970s. Today, over four billion pieces are distributed annually throughout Japan, representing a $1 billion market. In fact, in Japan, tissues hardly exist as a retail product since almost everyone expects to get them for free.
